An intimate jazz and piano bar epitomizes the quintessential cabaret. 3160, a multi-level venue, showcases cover-free live performances of locally and nationally renowned talents. With an elongated bar, dimly-lit antique lanterns, occupying the golden-hued main floor bar area. Several quaint cocktail tables and chairs fill the upper level, where a baby grand piano, the primary focal point of entertainment, remains nestled in the far corner. Seating on the upper level requires the standard two-drink minimum; however, unlike most cabarets, this minimum includes either alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages. Complete with theatrical lighting and a backdrop of velvet curtains, a small enclave encased within the side wall periodically serves as a second stage. The masculine aura of the downstairs space features dart boards, along with dark brown leather furnishings. Adhering to Chi-town convention, 3160 encourages patrons to join their very own dart league. Take advantage of this charming gem because joints like these are a dying breed.

I like 3160 a lot.
I'm going to say it is in boys town even though it's a little off the strip. So that being said, it is the loungiest spot in boys town. In an area that is, quite honestly, overrun with trendy, bass-pumping hot spots, 3160 is the perfect little place to escape. It is quiet enough that you can talk to people you are there with, there is a pool table and a dart board for entertainment, and shows on various nights of the week. I highly recommend keeping an eye open for Mark Ferris who was performing last night and really entertained. He had several friends of his coming up to perform as well.

This is the most relaxed and best bar I have ever been to. This is a piano bar that plays jazz/blues music on Wednesday night. I met some friend there and it wasn't so loud that we couldn't talk, but there was great music. I believe the guys name was Paul. The bartender on Wednesday night is Ikey, a sassy lady. She made the experience even more enjoyable. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting new people there.
Down stairs there was a night lounging area with couches and chairs. There was also a dart board game. We found this to be a nice place for pictures. I would suggest going here on Wednesday nights as it is not overly crowded, but yet good music.

Raise the roof for Wednesday nights at 3160!! Here's my story...
I came here to meet some friends for what they exclaim is the best singer and piano player in the city when it comes to outstanding jazz/blues tunes. And, they were right. The singer, Paul, sounded like Michael Buble...ahhh, my heart melted.
A previous review says that the bartender was horrible and that might be true. I've heard stories of other bartenders, but on Wednesday nights, Ikey is there ready to make the best drinks and liven up the conversation. When I first arrived, I was the only one there at 8:30, but in the next 15 minutes Ikey and I established a wonderful bartender/patron relationship. She learned my name and remembered it the whole night. She also knew my friends who I was meeting there and had only great things to say about everyone. Go Ikey Go! Oh yeah, and she made some awesome shots; always the way to rock my world.
The place is like a mix between a bar and a lounge. The lighting is dim during the musical performance. There's tables and couches around the piano area. And, besides my friends who are regulars (and awesome), the rest of the crowd is older, but I should mention that, at least on Wednesdays, the bar is not strictly a gay bar and is welcoming to all who want to come. However, I rate this place high for the Wednesday night experience because it was unassuming, non-pretentious, and welcoming.
Gotta' love a place where everyone truly does know your name (or is willing to learn it)...

Pop goes the Gio (very talented 80s/90s/now cover band) is fantastic. And they take requests! They're there on Friday nights. Drinks are cheap. And Will the bartender is so adorable you'll want to take him home in a doggie bag. Definitely one of the best hidden treasures in Boystown.

I walk past this place EVERY day to and from work. on occasion I've wondered what was beyond that discreet brown awning, knowing full well that anyplace with hanging outdoor silver streamers, is a place I should be! :)
I went on a walk with my neighborhood buddy / partner in crime, last night and we got to chatting about how sad it's been since Gentry's on Halsted closed. Adding insult to injury, its replacement is the new Armpit of the Gay Mile, Scarlet...... This got my wheels turning.... "I think there's a really mellow bar called 3160 Over on Clark??"
To our delight, it was not only mellow but has LIVE musical performers and cabaret. Tue-Fri. Even though its a fairly new establishment, it has the feeling of a bygone era, or at least seniority. It was a bit empty but there was an open mic and a couple of wonderful singers, crooning the standards. (one girl even sang an Edith Piaf number, mega impressed) It's a little off the main strip of debauchery, but well worth the extra two block detour. The bartender and patrons alike made me feel like I was a regular, even the cute boys! Which was surprising because there are not many places in boys town where people even break their poses to look in your direction, let alone SPEAK to you, heaven forbid!
Through and through... I cant wait to go back on a little busier night, but I think im really going to like bouncing in for that mid week cocktail with my possie. A little gin, some low lighting and a cute boy singing Cole Porter numbers, cant get much better than that!

I came here for the POP goes the GIO show, and was actually impressed with the place. Walking by I would't even recognize that its a bar, there is nothing flashy in the window, and being next to a bright window display of Ceasar's it would be hard to notice. However, once you walk in the place is really cute and cozy on the inside. The staff is SUPER friendly, and will the bartender/server was beyond HOTTTT!!!!! Just one of the reasons just to go there! They have many great events, and live music which is usually fun. I love GIO, he was fun, quirky, on top of things, and extremely entertaining! This is his location and I would HIGHLY recommend stopping in and checking him out, you will not be dissapointed. Plus, hearing your favorite songs live is always great. Another little bonus the drinks are awesome, and not too expensive, I will be back for sure!
